Madonna is working on a ‘super weird’ song, says producer

Producer Diplo has revealed that he has been working on a “super weird” song with Madonna.
The Queen of Pop told fans in May that she was working with Diplo on tracks for her new album – and Diplo later teased that some of them are “crazy sounding”.
Now the producer (pictured with Madonna and songwriter MoZella) has spoken about their collaboration again, revealing that one song came about after he and Madonna got “a little bit drunk” one night in the recording studio.
“One [song] is super weird,” he told Billboard. “Late one night in the studio we got a little bit drunk and she improvised a little hook and we made a song out of it. I think it’s going to be a breakthrough if she can manage to get everything together and get it out properly.”
Diplo also revealed that he and Madonna are taking a perfectionist approach to another track on the album, fiddling with its tempo in order to make it just right.
“That song is on like version 20,” he said. “It went from a piano ballad to a Turn Down for What-style song [by DJ Snake & Lil Jon], which I didn’t like. Now it’s somewhere in the middle.”
In recent months, the Queen of Pop has used her Instagram to reveal the diverse palette of collaborators she has assembled for her next album. The list now comprises Diplo, Sky Ferreira/Haim producer Ariel Rechtshaid, Wrecking Ball co-writer MoZella, DJ/producer Avicii, former Lady Gaga collaborator Martin Kierszenbaum, cult pop singer Natalia Kills, rising British popstar MNEK, US hit-maker Toby Gad and R&B producer Symbolyc One.
Madonna’s last studio album, MDNA, was released in 2012 and reached number one in the US and UK. She scored her 13th and most recent UK chart-topping single with 4 Minutes in 2008.
Meanwhile, earlier this week a shelved collaboration between Madonna and rapper Eve leaked online – listen to it here.
