Maisie Williams has confirmed The New Mutants will feature a same-sex love story.
The new movie – which is an adaptation of the popular X-Men spin-off comic series – stars Charlie Heaton, Maisie Williams, Anya-Taylor Joy, Henry Zaga and Blu Hunt.
The film sees the likes of Magik, Wolfsbane and other teenage mutants try to come to grips with their superpowers while staying at a secret facility.
It was previously teased that the new film will become the first ever Marvel movie to feature a same-sex couple between Rahne aka Wolfsbane (Williams) and Dani aka Moonstar (Hunt).
Two years after the first trailer was released, the second trailer for Josh Boone’s new movie teased the romance between the two characters.
And now the Game of Thrones star has opened up about the romance and said no one ‘really questions’ their sexuality.
“Rahne and Dani have a telepathic connection in the comics, and so we just wanted to extend that in the film and put that within reality,” she told Entertainment Weekly.
“If they really could understand each other on that level, then you’d probably end up falling in love with that person.
“It’s not really a story about these two characters understanding their sexuality.
“It’s not centred around that and they don’t really necessarily label it. No one else does either and no one really questions it.”
The film was originally scheduled to hit cinemas in April 2018, before being pushed back to February 2019.
It will now hit cinemas in April this year.
