Man surprises boyfriend with proposal live on stage at Demi Lovato show – WATCH
Demi was in on the whole thing - and it was all kinds of adorable.
Demi Lovato has helped a gay couple get engaged live on stage during one of her shows.
The ‘Confident’ singer was performing in Los Angeles last week as part of her ‘Tell Me You Love Me World Tour’ when she asked her dancers to select a member of the audience to join her on stage, Billboard reports.
The dancers chose Rayvon Owen, a finalist in American Idol, and pulled him up on stage.
What Owen didn’t know, was that everything had been planned beforehand by his boyfriend and LGBT activist Shane Bitney Crone.
The filmmaker emerged from a trap door on the stage, before promptly popping the question to his shocked partner.
“I thought I could never love again, and then I completely fell in love with everything about you,” Shane told him.
“You inspire me every day with your passion, your patience, your talents and generous heart.”
Owen accepted the proposal to rapturous applause from the audience, prompting an emotional Lovato to reveal that she was actually close friends with the couple.
She said: “What some of you don’t know is that these are two of my really close friends. I’ve gotten to watch Shane go through so much and come out on the other side as such a strong person who’s found the love of his life.”
Lovato then performed ‘Yes’ from her 2015 album Confident while an adorable montage of pictures of Shane and Owen played onthe big screen.
In an interview with Billboard, Owen admitted he had no idea what was going on when he was called on stage.
“I thought I was going up there to like, dance. I thought we were going to have a little twerk session with her,” he said.
“And then she was like, ‘Who’d you come here with?’ And I was like, ‘I came with my boyfriend Shane,’ and she’s like, ‘Where is he?’ And I was like looking to where we were sitting, thinking that he was still seated over there, and then he popped up in the middle of the stage!”
Owen also revealed that former Disney star Lovato was the mastermind behind the proposal.
“The whole slideshow, and her singing the song, that was like her idea,” he explained. “She was so kind to do that, then to even go the extra mile, you know? Not juust say, ‘Yeah, you can propose to him on stage,’ but then, ‘Let me sing you a song.'”
He added: “She did the whole thing. It took up almost ten minutes of her concert.”
