By Josh Haggis
Matthew McConaughey won’t be returning for the upcoming sequel to Magic Mike, according to one of his co-stars in the original film.
McConaughey played former stripper Dallas in the 2012 smash, starring alongside Channing Tatum and Matt Bomer. The sequel, which has been titled Magic Mike XXL, is set for release in July 2015, but no official casting announcements have been made.
“Word has it that Matthew McConaughey isn’t going to be involved in this one,” said actor Gabriel Iglesias during an interview with Dish Nation. “He’s worth a lot of money, because of that little Oscar thing.”
Iglesias, who played drug dealer Tobias in the original film, then said of the sequel’s storyline: “All they’re telling me, because they haven’t shown me the whole script yet, is that they’re taking the show on the road. Something tells me it’s not going to be shot in Florida like the last one.”
Meanwhile, Zac Efron has recently revealed that he would be up for a role in the upcoming sequel – click here to read the full story.
