Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins are to host their own daytime chatshow on ITV.

The chatshow will find the Great British Bake Off hosts interviewing celebrities and real-life personalities, in what will be the duo’s first daytime job since they fronted Light Lunch and Late Lunch on Channel 4 in the late-1990s.

The show is reportedly being lined up for the late-afternoon 4pm slot on ITV, though this has yet to be confirmed by the channel.

“I very much look forward to working with Mel again, although, for legal reasons, we will now be at least one metre apart at all times,” said Perkins in a press release.

Helen Warner, ITV’s Director of Daytime, added: “I’ve been a big Mel and Sue fan for years. Both are brilliant broadcasters and comedians and bring a unique warmth and charisma as presenters.”

Giedroyc and Perkins have hosted the The Great British Bake Off since it debuted on BBC Two in 2010. The fifth series began on BBC One earlier this month (August), after the show moved to the BBC’s main channel this year due to its growing popularity. They were named joint recipients of the TV Personality of the Year prize at last year’s Attitude Awards.

Meanwhile, Perkins has revealed that she nearly turned down the chance to host Great British Bake Offfind out why here.
