Melissa McCarthy hits out against the haters of the ‘Ghostbusters’ reboot

By Fabio Crispim

Back in January we reported that a Ghostbusters sequel was in the works with Melissa McCarthy in the lead.

However, since the films announcement, it’s been met with nothing but criticism and the trailer for the film has become the most disliked on YouTube according to The Metro.

But now Melissa McCarthy has hit out against the haters in a new interview with The Guardian.

“All those comments – ‘You’re ruining my childhood!’ I mean, really,” she said.

“Four women doing any movie on earth will destroy your childhood? I have a visual of those people not having a Ben [Falcone, her husband], not having friends, so they’re just sitting there and spewing hate into this fake world of the internet.”

“I just hope they find a friend,” she adds.

Director of the reboot, Paul Feig, has also spoken out on the film’s hate.

He said, “Some of it is that people don’t want an old property touched – I’m sympathetic to that. But the ones who are hating because it’s about women? That’s just a non-starter.”

You can watch the trailer for the film below:

Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon all star in the film with Chris Hemsworth making an appearance too.

Ghostbusters is set for a release on July 15.
