Michelle Visage shuts down complaints about amount of RuPaul’s Drag Race on TV
"I don't think there could ever be enough."

Michelle Visage has responded to criticism that there is too much RuPaul’s Drag Race on TV, arguing that the show “blazed that trail” for other queer artists and LGBTQ content.
The US show is now on its 14th season, while there have been six series of All Stars, three series of Drag Race UK, and the first transnational edition of the show, RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK Versus the World set to debut in February. There are also now Spanish, Italian, and Canadian (and more!) versions airing around the world.
“Drag Race has kind of blazed that trail”
Asked by Digital Spy about so-called Drag Race ‘fatigue’ among viewers, Visage said: “We fought so long and hard to get queer programming on TV, and Drag Race has kind of blazed that trail in many ways.
The former Attitude Award winner, 53, went on: “I don’t think there could ever be enough. I think we always have to love and support our queer artists.”

Highlighting other LGBTQ shows such as the UK’s Drag SOS Michelle added: “The point is, we’re getting these shows on TV. I don’t think we should ever, for a second, complain. It’s 2022. It’s taken so long to get shows like this on telly.”
Disregarding critiques of Drag Race as “short-sighted” she also said people should be “celebratory” and “grateful”, warning: “It won’t be here forever. Nothing’s here forever. So we have to enjoy being celebrated right now, and we should continue.”
The Drag Race and gay icon added that viewers should record the show or stream it online should they be struggling to keep up, stating: “You’ve got to sit down and binge it. The point is, nobody has all the time to sit down and watch every single TV show that they want to watch. You make time for it!”
The 14th season of the US Drag Race is available in the UK through WOW Presents Plus and Drag Race: UK Versus the World will air on BBC Three from February.
