Miranda Hart is in “early talks” to host a revival of The Generation Game, according to the BBC.

The Generation Game first hit screens in 1971, and was watched by over 20 million viewers at the height of its popularity.

The popular game show, which saw different families pitted against each other in a series of challenges, last aired in 2002.

It was previously hosted by Bruce Forsyth, Jim Davidson and Larry Grayson. Hart would be the first female to front the show.

A BBC spokesperson said of the Hart-fronted version: “It’s in the early ideas stage at the moment. Nothing is confirmed and no series [is] planned.”

Hart is best known for her role in BBC sitcom Miranda, which she both writes and stars in. She also stars in the BBC’s hit drama Call The Midwife and has recently completed a stand-up tour of the UK.
