Mj Rodriguez has made history by becoming the first transgender woman to win the Best Actress at the Television at the Imagen Awards.
The actress stars as Blanca on Ryan Murphy’s hit show Pose and attended the annual event – which honours positive representations of Latinx people in media – alongside her co-stars.
And Rodriguez made history by taking home the Best Actress – Television gong making her the first ever transgender woman to receive the prestigious prize.
While accepting her award, she said: “It’s so crazy to be standing up here because you’d never think in a million years you’d get an award like this being a woman like me. “Obviously, this is not just for me. This is for the little kids like me … and I’m just trying to speak as much as I can for my community as possible and that goes for my Latino community.”
