The official trailer for Barry Jenkins’ new movie If Beale Street Could Talk has been released.
Jenkins – who is best known for the Academy Award winning gay film Moonlight – is back with another moving picture based around James Baldwin’s novel of the same name.
The film follows Trish, a 19-year-old girl, who is in love with a young sculptor, Fonny, the father of her unborn baby.
However, Fonny is falsely accused of rape and imprisoned but the devoted mother-to-be and their families race to clear his name before the baby is born.
The film – which received critical acclaim after debuting at the Toronto International Film Festival – stars Stephen James of Selma fame as Fonny and newcomer Kiki Layne as Trish.
