A sequel to Mrs Doubtfire is said to be in the works.

Robin Williams starred in the 1993 comedy as a father who poses as a Scottish nanny so he can see his children, and is reportedly set to reprise the role in the proposed sequel.

According to The Wrap, Harry Potter director Chris Columbus will take charge of the film, while David Berenbaum (Elf) has been hired to write the screenplay.

The original Mrs Doubtfire took $441 million (£262m) at the box office worldwide when it was released just over 20 years ago.

Sally Field and Pierce Brosnan also starred in the comedy.

Fox are said to have been keen to develop a sequel ever since, with Elizabeth Gabler and Marisa Paiva now on board to oversee the project.
