‘Mrs Henderson Presents’ to become West End musical
By Sam Rigby
is being turned into a West End musical.
The 2005 film starred Judi Dench, the late Bob Hoskins, and told the true story of London’s Windmill Theatre adding nudity to performances in the 1930s.
Sir Elton John’s former manager, John Reid, is working on the musical adaptation, and told The Telegraph that it is still “early days” for the project.
Speaking about the film’s stars, Reid said: “They can’t, of course, be replaced, but it is the music that will be the key to this. We have the great Don Black on board, so I’m sure we will do it justice.”
Will Young made his acting debut in the original film, starring as Bertie.
A stage adaptation of the 1998 Oscar-winning film Shakespeare in Love will open at Noël Coward Theatre on July 2.
