Nick Jonas tells Attitude: 'Indiana's religious freedom law is saddening'

Nick Jonas has spoken out against Indiana’s religious freedom law.

Signed by Gov. Mike Pence, the controversial legislation will allow businesses to discriminate based on religious grounds. The decision was been met with widespread criticism from public figures including Hillary Clinton and global businesses.

During an in-depth interview with attitude.co.uk this week, the singer – who’s currently riding high on iTunes with his new single Jealous – shared his thoughts on the bill, telling us that he finds intolerance of any form to be “heartbreaking”.

“I feel like on that issue, it’s incredibly saddening most of all. Intolerance in general to me is heartbreaking. I am happy and willing and ready to do all I can to help break down walls because at this point in time, it’s just unacceptable,” said Jonas.

Echoing former Disney star Miley Cyrus who publicly condemned the controversial bill last week, Jonas went on to went on to add that like Miley, he’s happy to speak out about an issue he feels strongly about.

“We are given a platform to talk about things that relevant to us and important to us and I think it’s one of those things where we really have to be conscientious of what is important to say. “I do my best to show respect where it’s due.”

“But also, if there’s something I think is unjust and I have the ability to speak about it then I’m happy to,” he added.
