Nico Tortorella and Juan Pablo Di Pace to play gay couple in new movie

Nico Tortorella and Juan Pablo Di Pace will play a pair of foster fathers in an upcoming new movie called The Mattachine Family.
The film, currently in production, will be executive produced by Zach Braff and directed by Andy Vallentine.
According to Deadline, the plot follows gay couple who are ‘very much in love, [but] find, after their first foster child returns to his birth mother, that they have different ideas about what it means to make a family.’

The Walking Dead: World Beyond actor and former Attitude cover star Nico confirmed the news on Instagram yesterday, saying in a post: “This is the most important project i’ve been a part of to date.”
“Can’t wait to share this with y’all,” added the 33-year-old.

Juan, who came out publicly as gay in 2019, added in an Instagram statement: “Beyond excited to be a part of this beautiful film.”
The 42-year-old furthermore added: “An important piece of cinema coming your way.”
Jake Choi, Annie Funke and Heather Matarazzo will also appear in the film.
Juan is best known for roles in Fuller House and Mamma Mia! Nico, who is sexually-fluid and genderfluid and uses they/them pronouns, has starred in the likes of Scream 4 and Younger.
