Nyle DiMarco has been cast in the Queer as Folk reboot
This is going to be be one to watch!

The deaf actor and model, Nyle DiMarco has joined the cast of the Queer As Folk reboot, which is expected to air later this year.
Nyle, who communicates using American Sign Language (ASL), made history as the first deaf contestant to win America’s Next Top Model in 2015 before going to become the first deaf winner of the US version of Strictly Come Dancing, Dancing With the Stars a year later.
The reboot of Russell T. Davies’ iconic show will centre around a group of friends living in New Orleans in the United States, whose lives are impacted by a tragedy.

After TV line broke the news exclusively Nyle, who has described himself as “sexually fluid” tweeted his excitement: “Hyper excited about joining the Queer As Folk reimagination along with the amazing cast and the incredible team behind this iconic show.”

The former Attitude cover star and Man of the Year joined an already stunning cast including the non-binary actor, Jesse James Keitel, who’s known for her work in ABC’s Big Sky. Special creator and actor Ryan O’Connell will play “a pop culture nerd with cerebral palsy who is more than ready for some independence,” as well as serve as writer and executive producer.
Candace Grace (Acts of Crime) will play a non-binary professor from New Orleans who’s moving from punk to parenthood. Devin Way, of Grey’s Anatomy, will play a charming and sometimes chaotic commitment-phobe who finds a way to stay in New Orleans” after a tragedy.
Fin Argus (Clouds) will play a cocky high schooler with more bravado than experience. Known from Pose and Hacks, Johnny Sibilly has been cast as “a successful lawyer who is not as put together as he seems.”

Sex and the City alum Kim Cattrall will also have a recurring role described by Deadline as ‘a martini-soaked, high society Southern debutante with trailer park roots’.
Speaking of the new show, Russell T Davies told Attitude at the 2021 Virgin Atlantic Attitude Awards, powered by Jaguar, that it’s: “it’s much more modern [than the original], it’s ferociously 2022. It’s got much more [of] today’s issues in it, trans characters, diverse characters. It’s really, really thrilling and I’m excited.”
The original show focused on the lives of three gay men in Manchester’s Canal Street and ran for two series until from 1999-2000. A US remake ran for five seasons from 2000-2005.
The reboot, which is being produced by Peacock, NBC’s streaming service, will consist of eight episodes.
