The Sun claims that the duo, who previously fronted spin-off show The Xtra Factor, have met with show boss Simon Cowell and are now “fully on board” for the new series.

Murs quit The Xtra Factor after two series, while Flack followed the year after, before going on win BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing in 2014.

Despite the rumours, an X Factor spokesperson has said that “no decisions” have been made on who will replace O’Leary, adding that “an announcement will be made in due course”.

Writing on Twitter, Cowell described O’Leary as an “amazing presenter” and a “real talent”, adding that he will work with him again on “something else”.
