Pabllo Vittar is making even more herstory as the joint first drag queen to appear on the cover of Vogue.
The Brazilian pop artist, 25, is serving looks and self-love in this month’s edition of Vogue Brazil – which also features drag star Gloria Groove on a second separate cover.
“I want, I can, I can”, says Vittar in a translated excerpt from her cover feature.
“I always knew I was going to get where I am “and” It is not wrong for you to love yourself, to take care of yourself.
“People will have to learn to respect you for who you are”.
With more than 10.8 million Instagram followers, Vittar is far and away the world’s most popular drag queen on social media, with pop hits including ‘Flash Pose’ with Charli XCX and ‘Parabéns’.
The South American singer – who performed at this year’s Attitude Pride at Home digital festival – has three studio albums under her belt, including this year’s acclaimed 111, and in 2018 become the first ever Grammy-nominated drag queen after her track ‘Sua Cara’ was nominated at the 19th Annual Latin Grammy Awards.
Vittar’s fellow Vogue cover girl Gloria Groove is a drag star who’s been making waves in her native Brazil for several years, but is set to explode on the international scene after landing the hosting gig on Netflix’s new drag show A Queen is Born.
“I am living a dream and I am thrilled with the invitation because it positions drag queens as fashion icons,” says Groove of her Vogue cover.
“I am very happy that we are occupying spaces like this, I feel at home. I think I was born for that”.
