Paloma Faith on Radio 1: ‘I think they hate me’

Paloma Faith has spoken about BBC Radio 1’s apparent refusal to play her music.
The Hackney-born singer, who collected the Music prize at the Attitude Awards earlier this month (October 13), argues in the latest issue of Attitude that her lack of airplay on Radio 1 is due to a “personal” distaste that the BBC’s flagship station has for her.
“I don’t think they like me as a person. I don’t know why. Maybe they find me irritating. I think I’m a bit like Marmite,” Paloma says.
She continues: “Radio do play me a lot and I’m getting a lot of Radio 1 and Capital airplay on this single with Sigma [recent drum and bass-flavoured chart-topper Changing], but I still actually think it’s personal. I think they hate me and I don’t know what I did to them.”
