Paloma Faith performs latest single ‘Gold’ live at the Attitude Awards
Our Honorary Gay recipient added her Midas touch to proceedings.
No doubt about it, Paloma Faith was our golden girl at the 2020 Virgin Atlantic Attitude Awards, powered by Jaguar.
The British pop star shone bright when she sang her 24-carat track ‘Gold’, mined from her recent fifth album Infinite Things.
The exclusive and unseen performance was part of Paloma’s stunning set list at London’s Roundhouse, alongside ‘Better Than This’, which fans caught during the original broadcast last month (December).
Collecting the Honorary Gay trophy, Paloma was inducted into a hall of fame that also includes the iconic Amanda Holden and, like Amanda, she made a good fist of her acceptance speech.
Holding court in the Attitude Awards December issue, the 39-year-old singer-songwriter – who previously received our Music Prize – shared why she has always been on the frontline in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights.
“It just feels like my community. From school age, I’ve had friends who are gay men or girls who aren’t particularly bothered about labelling their sexuality; that’s how I’ve grown up. It’s something that’s part of who I am. When I hear homophobia, I take it personally. It feels I’m defending myself,” Paloma said.
“I struggle with people being discriminated against. I think everyone’s entitled to be exactly who they are without the age-old traditionalist values that have been put on us. If your soul is good and beautiful, that’s enough. I feel the same about transphobia, feminism, Black Lives Matter. People are constantly in denial about minority groups that are treated wrongly, saying ‘It’s all fine, we’ve sorted that out now.’ But we’re nowhere near that.”
