Panti Bliss returns to London with 'High Heels in Low Places'

Performing giant and ‘accidental activist’ Panti Bliss is returning to London with her acclaimed show, High Heels in Low Places.

Following two sold out runs at the Soho Theatre last year, High Heels in Low Places exposes the stories behind the make-up and invites you into Panti’s acclaimed “gender-discombobulating, stiletto-shaped world.”

Panti – real name Rory O’Neill – made her theatrical debut in 2007 with the critically acclaimed In These Shoes? and has toured across the UK, Europe, North America and Australia.

Back in 2014, the grande dame of Irish drag became a YouTube sensation when a speech she made at the Abbey Theatre about homophobia went viral.

High Heels in Low Places sees the Attitude Award winner traces her journey from small-town boy kicking against traditions to a towering plastique woman in false lashes making history.

The show, which focusses on is about life after ‘Pantigate’, has been described as “comic genius” by the Irish independent, “wickedly funny” by The Guardian and “electrically revealing and masterful,” by the Irish Times.

Panti Bliss moved to Tokyo in the late ’80s after attending art college in Dublin. She began her drag career as part of a successful double act called ‘Candi Panti’ before returning to Ireland in the mid ’90s to become a fixture for Dublin’s night scene.

Panti’s High Heels in Low Places will be on at the South Bank Centre for London Wonderground 2016 on June 22nd and 23rd.
