Phillip Schofield ‘hasn’t discussed’ divorce with wife Steph since coming out
This Morning star, who had a Whatsapp group to plan his coming out, adds: 'It's not in my nature to hurt people'
Phillip Schofield has said he and his wife of 27 years Steph haven’t discussed divorce since he came out publicly as gay in February.
Phil and Steph tied the knot in 1993 and have two daughters together: Molly, 27, and Ruby, 24.
The This Morning presenter addressed the subject of he and his wife separating on the latest edition of Chris Evans’ How To Wow podcast.
“It’s a work in progress”
“We’re picking our way through,” he said. “It’s a work in progress.
“I’m still married to Steph. With divorce… we’ve not discussed that at all.”
The 58-year-old added: “It’s not in my nature to hurt people.

“How is it possible to come out and not hurt your wife? It isn’t. My greatest concern is her.”
Speaking about the lead up to ‘the event’, as he calls it, the Dancing On Ice presenter added: “There were increasingly people who were in on the secret. This is not mates – this is office and management, when you start to plan something.
“So the only reason it’s called ‘The Event’ is because that’s what it’s called on Whatsapp.”
The star was recently asked out live on the radio by Reverend Richard Coles – but turned the former Strictly Come Dancing star down.
