‘Pop Idol’ star Zoe Birkett enters ‘Big Brother’ house
By Nick Levine
alumnus Zoe Birkett has entered the Big Brother: Power Trip house.
The singer and actress, who finished fourth on the original series of Pop Idol back in 2002, is one of three new housemates added into the mix in a surprise twist tonight (July 14).
Birkett, 29, now works in musical theatre and describes herself in her Big Brother: Power Trip biography as a “gay man trapped in a woman’s body”.
Birkett enjoyed a romance with eventual runner-up Gareth Gates during her time on Pop Idol and later dated Big Brother 6 champion Anthony Hutton for six years. She is currently single.
She released one single after Pop Idol, Treat Me Like A Lady, which peaked at number 12 on the UK’s Official Singles Chart. Her subsequence stage credits include roles in the West End productions of Priscilla Queen of the Desert and Thriller Live.

Meanwhile, the two other new housemates are Bianca Lake, a 31-year-old stripper from Essex, and 22-year-old Pavandeep Paul, also from Essex, who describes himself as a “cheeky, resourceful and tactile ladies’ man”.
Birkett and the two other new housemates made their first appearance on the episode of Big Brother: Power Trip that aired on Channel 5 tonight (July 14). During the course of the episode, existing housemate Marlon Wallen was eliminated in a surprise eviction.
Birkett’s close friend Aaron Renfree has since tweeted to wish her luck in the house. Check out his tweet below.
