Power Rangers star David Yost accuses Bryan Cranston of homophobia
Earlier this month Bryan Cranston revealed that he would be playing Zordon in the upcoming Power Rangers film.
Everyone was excited except, for one person.
According to Digital Spy, Gay actor David Yost, who played the original Blue Ranger in Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, has criticised Cranston for anti-gay comments.
Bryan Cranston, who voiced two villains in the original Power Rangers series, had the blue ranger character named after him: Billy Cranston.
Then in a 2009 interview with IGN, Cranston discussed his previous voice work for the show and the name of blue Power Ranger.
In the interview Cranston joked that “it was a problem” having the ranger named after him because he was “the fey one”.
Yost took to Twitter to voice his frustration in a now-deleted tweet by saying it’s “not cool” and that he isn’t “a fan of homophobes”.
Yost has previously spoken about the bullying he suffered while working on the show which led to him quitting.
Cranston however has said he’s a “big” supported of gay rights and made a speech at GLAAD last year where he said, “It’s absurd that there’s still an issue about marriage.”
The Power Rangers film will hit cinemas March next year.
