It’s the news we all expected, but now it’s official: Queer Eye is coming back for season 2!
Yep, the year’s most uplifting addition to TV line-ups has been renewed by Netflix for a second round of make-betters, and our heart is already bursting at the prospect of the Fab Five getting their hands on another Tom (who’s now engaged to his ex-wife Abby, FYI).
Queer Eye has quickly become one of the most talked-about shows of 2018, drawing praise for its ‘love yourself’ mantra, sensitive portrayal of LGBT people and its undeniably infectious positivity.
A reboot of the Bravo reality show Queer Eye For the Straight Guy, which aired for five seasons between 2003-07, the series far and away exceeded critics’ initial expectations as it swapped New York City for Southern, conservative Georgia and demanded “acceptance” rather than “tolerance” for its stars.
Antoni Porowski (Food), Bobby Berk (Interior Design), Karamo Brown (Culture), Jonathan Van Ness (Grooming) and Tan France (Fashion) will all be returning for the show’s second season, as the group seek to help those in need of a life-changing self-esteem boost.
Jonathan, Tan and Antoni all celebrated on Instagram after news of Queer Eye’s renewal broke on Monday (March 26), while Karamo – who opens up about love, fatherhood and the show’s success in the April issue of Attitude – wrote on Twitter that he was feeling “extremely blessed”.
An official return date us yet to be confirmed, but new episodes of Queer Eye are expected to be with us before the end of 2018.
Better start stocking up on those tissues now, then.
Queer Eye is available to stream on Netflix now.
