R. Kelly’s youngest child has confirmed that he is a transgender male.

13-year-old Jay – who was born Jaya – spoke about his planned transition on his ask.fm page.

He is estranged from his father, who he described as a “deadbeat” dad, but revealed that his mother has been incredibly supportive.

Jay explained: “[My mom] was like, ‘Baby, you know I love you if you were bi, gay, [lesbian], you name it and I would still love you so much.

“She was very proud of me, I was like, ‘Thank you mum for accepting the fact that I’m a transgender.’”

He added that his sister told him that she is “proud” and “respects” his decision to go forward with his transition.

Jay also opened up about his experiences with depression, explaining that it is just “one of the things that come with being transgender”.
