Revived ‘Dallas’ TV series axed after three seasons

The revived Dallas has been axed after three seasons.

US cable network TNT has confirmed that a fourth season of the reboot, which airs on Channel 5 in the UK, will not be going ahead.

TNT bosses said in a statement:

“We are extremely proud of the series, which defied expectations by standing as a worthy continuation of the Ewing saga. We want to thank everyone involved with the show, from the extraordinary cast to the impeccable production team, led by the show’s creative forces, Cynthia Cidre and Mike Robin. We especially want to thank the people of Dallas for their warm and generous hospitality during the production of the series.”

The new Dallas debuted on TNT in 2012 and focused on the younger generation of the infamous Ewing clan. It was conceived as a continuation of the much-loved original Dallas, which aired on CBS between 1978 and 1991.

Former Desperate Housewives stars Josh Henderson and Jesse Metcalfe starred in the new Dallas as the next generation of Ewing males. They were joined by some of the original show’s most famous cast members, including the late Larry Hagman, who reprised his iconic role as JR Ewing until his death im 2012, and Linda Gray, who returned as Sue Ellen Ewing.
