Rhys Howells, star of hot gay horror film ‘Vampires’
Back in 2011, a low budget British horror film caught our attention. Vampires: Brighter In Darkness introduced us to the dashing stake-dodger Lucas Delamore, an ancient vampire with a taste for male blood. Now, Lucas is back on the hunt for his love Toby and the latest instalment promises to be bigger, better and sexier than the first.
In our brand new digital-only special issue Screamers – dedicated to all your horror faves – we chat to star Rhys Howells, who plays Lucas, to find out what we can expect from the sequel. You can download Screamers for just £1.99 from Pocketmags, but for now, here’s a taste (pardon the pun) of our chat with Rhys – plus a few sexy pics…
You’re straight, but you play a gay vampire in the Vampires series. You certainly throw yourself into the role…
Haha! Firstly, thank you. But I think it helped a hell of a lot that it was my first ever role, I had to be fearless in the audition room and fearless during production. But gay straight or bi, for me that would be the last thing that would ever concern me about taking on a role. First and foremost the vampire saga is a love story and my job as an actor is to be convincing and silly hang ups would only hinder a performance so I was happy to throw myself into the role for the good of the project and also as my credibility as an actor. And I have been blessed with positive feedback so I’m glad that people afterwards had to question my sexuality – it means I did a good job.
Do you believe in ghosts and ghoulies – any spooky experiences?
I don’t believe or disbelieve, I’m a fairly logical guy but if it did happen it wouldn’t blow my mind. Or at least I hope not…
