RuPaul honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
'Grace And Frankie' star Jane Fonda presented him with the award yesterday (March 16)
RuPaul has been honoured with his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The RuPaul’s Drag Race host was given a star yesterday (March 16) during a ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard just outside the World of Wonder production offices, the studio behind the iconic drag show.
According to People, RuPaul was introduced by actress Jane Fonda, who RuPaul is working with for his guest appearance on Netflix’s Grace And Frankie.
Speaking at the ceremony, Fonda said Ru’s star should be “at least three sizes bigger than any other star on the Walk of Fame”.
She added: “Behind the glamour, behind the drag queen is a man of great depth, incredible intelligence and compassion. I love this man very much. I’ve just gotten to know him and it’s one of the great pleasures of my life.”
RuPaul then held back the tears as he accepted the star and described the honour as “the most important moment in my professional life”.
As the crowd cheered, RuPaul added: “I wish for each and every person within the sound of my voice, that your dreams come true as mine have.”
Joining the drag queen at the event were his three sisters, husband Georges LeBar and his tenth-grade teacher Bill Pennell, who told him not to take life “too f*cking seriously.”
World of Wonder co-founders Randy Barbato and Fenton Bailey were also at the ceremony along with Ross Matthews, Candis Cayne and Todrick Hall.
The news comes just days after the finale of All Stars 3 and one week ahead of the RuPaul’s Drag Race season 10 premiere.
