RuPaul’s Drag Race fans will be treated to a special one-off documentary next week.

The special, titled RuPaul’s Drag Race: Corona Can’t Keep a Good Queen Down, will air on VH1 in the US on Friday 26 February 2021.

The documentary, announced yesterday, will explore the ambitious staging of season 13 of the hit show in the face of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

“I’ve been tested, my hands are washed, I’ve been quarantined”

In a statement, filmmakers said the film will “capture the raw emotions surrounding the extraordinary experience; from the combination of hope and anxiety of the early days, to creative challenges prepping and executing the show, and an ultimate sense of celebration and gratitude.”

It’ll feature interviews with all of this year’s competitors – including Tamisha Iman, Utica and Symone [pictured above, left to right] – and exclusive behind the scenes footage of the show in action.

In the clip, Kandy Muse is heard explaining: “I’ve been tested, my hands are washed, I’ve been quarantined,” before Utica adds: “They were doing everything in their power to make sure COVID didn’t rain on this parade.”

Season 13 of RPDR returns this Saturday 20 February on Netflix. The latest ep sees the queens record lyrics and learn choreography as they perform in Social Media: The Unverified Rusical.

Update: RuPaul’s Drag Race: Corona Can’t Keep a Good Queen Down is due to be made available to watch in the UK on WOW Presents Plus from late evening 2 March 2021.
