Get those engines running, because a brand new instalment of RuPaul’s Drag Race is right around the corner – and season 13 is set to make show history with its first ever trans male contestant
The 13 queens competing in the upcoming series – widely expected to premiere on VH1 in the US on 1 January 2021 following the early leak of a promo trailer this week – were announced on Instagram on Wednesday (9 December), offering fans their first look at look at the performers who’ll be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Jaida Essence Hall and be crowned America’s Next Drag Superstar.
Among them is Gottmik, an LA-based drag queen renowned for his hyper-feminine looks and style, and who stands as the first transgender man to compete on the series.
“Competing safely and fiercely, our 13 queens proved that it takes more than a global pandemic to keep a good queen down,” RuPaul said in a statement.
