RuPaul’s Drag Race UK is officially underway, we’ve already said goodbye to our first queen.
The series premiere, which landed on BBC Three at 8pm on Thursday (3 October), saw Gothy Kendoll become the first contestant to sashay away from the workroom.
The 21-year-old from Leicester ended up in the bottom two with Vinegar Strokes after a special runway maxi-challenge which saw the queens create not one but two looks for the judges: one inspired by their hometown, and the other by HRH Queen Elizabeth II.
Gothy Kendoll became the first queen to be eliminated after losing out in the lipsync to Vinegar Strokes
After Gothy and Vinegar’s efforts failed to impress judges RuPaul, Michelle Visage, Alan Carr and special guest Andrew Garfield, the pair were forced to lipsync for their life to Dua Lipa’s ‘New Rules’ before Gothy was shown the door.
There was better news for Liverpudlian queen (and star of our new video series ‘Jag Race’) The Vivienne, who was crowned the week’s winner after delivering looks inspired by famed Scouser Pete Burns and The Queen’s dowdy country attire – earning herself the first ever winner’s ‘Ru Peter badge’ in the process.
Gothy’s exit means that Baga Chipz, Blu Hydrangea, Crystal, Cheryl Hole, Divina De Campo, Sum Ting Wong, Scaredy Kat, The Vivienne, and Vinegar Strokes are the nine queens left in the competition – and on the basis of what we’ve seen during the series premiere, the competition’s looking fierce already…
