RuPaul’s Drag Race UK series three has officially crowned Britain’s Next Drag Superstar.
After 10 weeks of fierce competition in the workroom, it was Krystal Versace who walked away with the crown at the conclusion of Thursday night’s finale episode (25 November).
The now-20-year-old Kent queen has followed in the footsteps of series one and two winners The Vivienne and Lawrence Chaney and will now get the chance to make their own web series in Hollywood with the makers of RuPaul’s Drag Race (as well as enjoy the lucrative spoils of emerging victorious from the world’s biggest drag franchise).
During a special screening of the finale episode in London on Thursday night, Krystal and fellow top three queens Ella Vaday and Kitty Scott-Claus discovered for the first time which of them had won the series (alternative endings are recorded in advance to prevent spoilers).
Reacting to their win, Krystal – who is officially the youngest winner in Drag Race her-story, said: “I just want to say to anyone in my life who said I couldn’t do it – f**k you!”
Asked what’s in store for her following her win, she quipped: “More filler!” before adding: “I’m going to keep up with the times, educate where necessary, and just keep filling the world with love, passion and inspiration.”
Meanwhile, Kitty Scott-Claus was voted by her fellow queens as the Miss Congeniality of the series – a coveted title which was also announced during Thursday night’s live screening.
“I didn’t think I was gonna in that!” exclaimed a tearful Kitty as she accepted the award from host Judi Love, adding: “Miss Congeniality is one of my favourite films and I can quote the s**t out of it!”
Fellow runner-up Ella Vaday, who finished the series with the most RuPeter Badges of all the queens, with four said: “I’m so proud of you [Krystal] and I see a little bit of me in you – not like that! I’m just so proud of you and you so deserve it. I love you to bits.”
RuPaul’s Drag Race UK is available to watch on BBC Three via BBc iPlayer now.
