RuPaul’s Netflix series AJ and the Queen has been cancelled.
Co-created by Sex and the City‘s Charles and Michael Patrick King, AJ and The Queen arrived on the streaming giant back in January and was met with mixed reviews.
The scripted series saw Ru star as Robert Lee, aka drag queen Ruby Red, who goes on a cross-country roadshow after being swindled by hustlers only to find himself landed with a 10-year-old street kid named AJ (Izzy G.) who stows away in his van.
Some iconic queens debuted in the new series including Bianca Del Rio, Vanessa ‘Miss Vanjie’ Mateo, Valentina, Mayhem Miller, Eureka O’Hara, Victoria ‘Porkchop’ Parker, Alexis Mateo, Manila Luzon, Jinkx Monsoon, Katya, Jaymes Mansfield, Chad Michaels, Mariah Balenciaga, Kennedy Davenport, Jade Jolie, Ongina, Latrice Royale, Monique Heart, Ginger Minj, Trinity The Tuck, Jujubee and Pandora Boxx.
But now, Ru has taken to Twitter to reveal that Netflix has not decided to extend the series.
Ru wrote: “End of the road for ‘AJ and the Queen’ @Netflix has decided to not extend our road trip across America.
“Thank you for all the love & support. We’re so very proud of the work.”
