Ryan Reynolds wants to explore Deadpool’s sexuality in future films
The actor hopes that future films in the Deadpool universe will feature more LGBT characters.
Ryan Reynolds has revealed he wants to explore Deadpool’s sexuality in future films.
The 41-year-old Canadian actor has played Deadpool and alter-ego Wade Wilson, who identifies as pansexual, in Deadpool and its 2018 sequel.
Now, speaking at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, Reynolds shared hopes that the Deadpool universe would soon feature more LGBT characters and explore Deadpool’s sexuality, Variety reports.
When asked whether future films would feature more LGBT characters, Reynolds said: “I certainly think that this universe… needs to represent and reflect the world in very real ways.
“The great thing about Deadpool is that we’re allowed to do things that other superhero movies don’t necessarily do. It’s something that I’d love to see more of, certainly through Wade, certainly through this universe because it’s something that we’re building out more.”
Earlier this year, Deadpool 2 was praised by LGBT fans and activists for being the first Marvel film to feature an on-screen same-sex couple.
The 20th Century Fox film featured a lesbian romance between characters Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand) and Yukio (Shioli Kutsuna).
