Rylan Clark-Neal and husband Dan to become first gay couple to host This Morning
After fast becoming a viewer favourite with his regular guest-appearances on the show, Rylan Clark-Neal is about to make This Morning history as he and husband Dan become the first gay couple to host ITV’s flagship daytime show.
In a huge boost to LGBT visibility on screen, the couple, who met during Dan’s stint on Big Brother in 2013 (for which Rylan presents spin-off show Big Brother’s Bit on the Side) will cover for regular hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford while they are away on holiday next month.
A This Morning host told Mail Online: “Rylan is hugely popular with the This Morning audience and working with Dan again will provide key chemistry a show like this requires with its hosts.”
The couple proved they can work together onscreen after previously appearing on This Morning together to give a touching and emotional interview with Christopher Cramp – the first person to have a Civil Partnership.
At the time, Rylan said of their appearance: “It was weird. We felt like Ruth and Eamonn. It was really strange.Obviously, me and Dan do a lot of work together away from TV on the development side, so we are used to doing stuff like that.”
‘To do stuff on camera together was a little bit strange, but I really enjoyed doing it,” he added.
Rylan and Dan will make their debut as host on ITV’s This Morning on Friday, July 8.
