Rylan Clark-Neal reveals how husband Dan proposed to him
Rylan Clark-Neal and husband Dan have been hitting the headlines after it was announced that the pair will be co-hosting This Morning and will become the first gay couple to host ITV’s flagship daytime show.
The 26-year-old Big Brother presenter has recalled the moment his now-husband Dan proposed to him in his new autobiography book The Life of Rylan.
In the book Rylan writes, “Just for the record, if you’re gonna propose to me, don’t you dare do it in public. I’d f*cking hate it. It’s muggy.”
He reveals how the couple were in the French capital and were out on their hotel balcony watching the Eiffel Tower light up. He says that Dan then turned to him and said, “Ross, I love you. Will you marry me?”
And Rylan reacted in the perfect way by screaming, “F*ck off, c*nt, c*nt, you’re a c*nt”, before hitting him in the arm.
In the book Rylan writes, “Seriously this, is exactly as it happened. He didn’t know what to say and neither did I.”
“I was just in so much shock that he had done [it],” he adds.
After Rylan calmed down, he accepted the proposal and the pair dined at a restaurant in the Latin Quarter of the city. They managed to get a table but there was a surprise, and not a good one.
Rylan, who says he doesn’t want the responsibility of being the first gay couple to present daytime TV, reveals that he “felt something on my foot” at the table.
What could it have been?
“A f*cking rat, mate!” Rylan declares.
They left the restaurant (and the rats) but following that, they couldn’t even get a table at McDonald’s.
“So there we were, on our engagement night, walking the streets of Paris with a half-drunk bottle of red wine and rat piss on my Louboutins,” he says.
When the pair arrived back at the hotel they ordered a Croque Monsieur on room service and then fell asleep.
He adds, “Calling my now-fiance a c*nt, punching him, leaving one restaurant, refused entry to another… two very big rats, refused entry to McDonald’s, and no nookie. Who says romance is dead?”
Well, that’s certainly one to remember, isn’t it?
Rylan and Dan will make their debut as host on ITV’s This Morning on Friday, July 8.
