Sam Heughan: One very good reason to watch period drama ‘Outlander’
By Will Stroude
If you’re yet to get up to speed with hottie-filled, Highland-set historical drama Outlander, you’ve been missing out: Based on Diana Gabaldon’s New York Times bestseller, the Amazon Prime Instant show has gained a huge cult following for its seductively original mix of time-travel, romance, war and, erm, man candy. Filled with kilts and kills, its all-round impeccable binge-watching fodder.
The show stars Caitriona Balfe as Claire Randall, a married wartime nurse in 1945 who finds herself transported back to Scotland in 1743, where she encounters the dashing Highland warrior Jamie Fraser, played by a smouldering Sam Heughan.
Thankfully, Outlander: Season One is out in its entirety on DVD and Blu-Ray next Monday (October 26), so we thought we’d celebrate the fact with a round-up of the all-important scenes we’ll be pause and rewinding on those cold winter nights…
