Sam Smith gets equal marriage tattoo, another that says ‘alone’

After announcing that he’d be taking a bit of a musical hiatus earlier this year, Sam Smith has been spending some of his new-found free time getting inked up in the tattoo parlour.
The 23-year-old has been sharing pictures of his new artwork on Instagram after getting four tatts in just one sitting, including a sweet tribute to marriage equality on his ring finger, and another that’s slightly less uplifting…
“First one – the equality sign on my wedding finger,” the Lay Me Down singer wrote alongside a picture of his new body art. “This ones pretty self explanatory. It shows my views on gay marriage and equality for all x”
“Second – this tattoo is inspired by one of the oldest tattoos ever found on a mummified body that was found buried alone in the ice”.
“Third – This is what I promise to be in my music. It’s what I live by. In the words of @mariamena_official ‘Honesty is my God’.
Finally, he posted a picture of a tattoo on his arm that reads simply ‘alone’ – cue collective ‘awws’.
Sam – who admitted last month that he’s never had a boyfriend – explained his reasoning behind the striking choice in the caption, writing: “This is just me being a melancholy twat haha. I do see it as a small positive thou… No longer lonely… Just alone… Which is ok x”
He added: “Thought I’d share these with you because I love them”.
Meanwhile, Sam recently debuted brand new track ‘Drowning Shadows’, which the Grammy-winner has branded his “saddest” ever. So that’ll go nicely with that last tattoo then…
