Sam Smith to postpone and rename new album ‘To Die For’
The non-binary star's third album was due for release on 1 May.

Sam Smith has announced that their third album, To Die For, has been postponed.
The non-binary star, 27, confirmed that their upcoming record, which had been due for release on 1 May, will be delayed as the world continues to battle the spread of coronavirus, which has claimed the lives of more than 30,000 people globally.
In a statement posted to social media on Monday (30 March), Sam revealed that To Die For will also undergo a name change before being released later in 2020.
“I have done a lot of thinking the last few weeks and feel that the title of my album and imminent release doesn’t feel right, so I have come to the decision to continue working on the album and make some important chanes and additions,” Sam writes.
“I will be renaming by album and pushing back the release date – both of which are to be confirmed at this time.
“Don’t worry though, there will be an album this year, I promise! But until then I am still going to bring out some new music over the next few months, which I am incredibly excited about.
“Thank you for always being by my side and for your understanding an patience. I always want to do right by you. Always.”
Last month, Sam released ‘To Die For’ as the fourth single from the now-postponed record, following singles ‘Dancing with a Stranger’, ‘How Do You Sleep’ and a cover of Donna Summer’s ‘I Feel Love’.
