Sam Smith’s pre-fame debut album to be re-released

Before the Grammys, James Bond theme songs and Oscar awards, Sam Smith was just a boy with a dream.
Or, to be more accurate, a Diva Boy with a dream.
You may have thought that Sam Smith’s debut album was 2014 smash In The Lonely Hour, but it turns out that his real debut happened in 2008 – with an album called Diva Boy.
Now, Flipbook Music, the indie record label that he released Diva Boy through, are planning to re-release the album. According to NME, Diva Boy will be released in September.
In a statement, the label said: “Sam is currently an award winning global pop-star. however, it didn’t happen overnight and without a lot of work. He may have dropped out of academics but he definitely took his masters in music.
“Yes, Sam was in development and trained for success over three years with Flipbook Music, a London based Indie Label. It was at Flipbook Music that Sam’s dreams were nurtured, his, then undiscovered, talents uncovered and developed and it was there he learned his art.
“It’s easy to see how those ‘Firsts’ shaped Sam’s inevitable journey to success as we watch him emerge from a ‘teenage wannabe’ to a ‘ready-to-be’ pop star and informed person… probably the most unique footage ever seen of a global pop star in training, leading to the fulfillment of all his dreams and ambitions… and only now being made available.”
No one can deny, even back then, Sam had an amazing voice. But we’re not sure we can say the same about his fashion sense.
