Schitt’s Creek star Dan Levy says Tiger King was ‘a little too exploitative for me’

He’s one of the most authoritative voices in TV.
So the fact Schitt’s Creek star Dan Levy wasn’t fussed over this year’s TV sensation Tiger King is certainly giving us pause for thought.
In fact, in a new interview with The Guardian, Dan – who in 2020 became the first person ever to win Emmys for writing, directing, acting and producing in the same year – went as far as to call the show “exploitative.”
“I just could not invest in it”
“I couldn’t do it,” the 37-year-old star said on the docuseries. “Something about it felt a little too exploitative for me.

“I never felt OK when I was watching it. Maybe that’s the main thing. There was a full month when everybody was watching it, when I desperately tried to stay part of the conversation. But I just could not invest.”
The star, who is gay, added: “And I don’t know, there is something kind of icky about what was going on there. But this is one man’s opinion in a sea of other people.”
Fair enough!
Tiger King dropped on 20 March, as much of the world was entering coronavirus-induced lockdown. It followed the story of eccentric zoo owner Joe Exotic, who is gay, and his feud with animal rights activist Carole Baskin.
