(Spoilers for seasons one and two of Sex Education follow)
Even though school’s nearly out for summer, we’re already excited for a new term at Moordale Secondary thanks to a trailer for the third series of Netflix’s Sex Education.
The teaser sees popular characters such as Otis (Asa Butterfield), Maeve (Emma Mackey) and Aimee (Aimee Lou Wood) appear in a cheesy promo to promote the school, while also introducing new characters such as headmistress Hope Haddon.
The new series is scheduled to debut on the streaming service on 17 September.
“Moordale baby, come on”
The trailer sees characters turning to camera and saying “choose Moordale” and highlighting the school, before introducing the new headmistress (Girls’ Jemima Kirke) who claims she’s here to get Moordale “back on track” and return it to a “pillar of excellence”.
Viewers of series two will know that (spoiler alert) at the end of the show’s last run of episodes, Otis’ mother Jean, played by the incomparable Gillian Anderson, discovered she was pregnant, Maeve confronted her mother’s drug habits, Adam (Connor Swindells) professed his love for Eric (Ncuti Gatwa) and Mr Groff (Alistair Petri) is placed on leave.
We left the show with Otis leaving a voicemail for Maeve confessing his love for her, but that message was deleted by Maeve’s new friend Issac (George Robinson) before she could hear it.
The highlight of the trailer, no doubt, has to be Aimee turning to the camera and saying: “Moordale baby, come on” and Maeve begging for people to come to the school “so this [the promo] can end”.
In addition to the return of the above cast (and more) the new series will also see nnew additions such as Minnesota actor Dua Saleh, play Cal, a non-binary student who clashes with the new headmistress, while Jason Isaacs (Lucious Malfoy in the Harry Potter series) joins the Groff family as Peter Groff, the former headmaster’s older brother.
