Sir Elton John has released an official snippet of his eagerly-awaited collab with Britney Spears, ‘Hold Me Closer’ and confirmed the song’s release date.
It follows a leak last week that left some fans more than a little “mad” and denouncing the leakers as “fake fans”.
Releasing the sneak peek on TikTok, Sir Elton confirmed the track would be released on 26 August.

In the brief glimpse, Britney can be heard singing alongside Sir Elton on the track that is somewhat familiar to “Cold Heart” released last year by the ‘Rocket Man’ singer along with Dua Lipa and PNAU.
The Tik Tok also suggests what the cover art for the track might be with pictures of Britney and John as children, which melt into view during the 14-second snippet.
When reports of a collab between Britney and Sir Elton first appeared in July a source told Page Six: “This was Elton’s idea, and Britney is a huge fan. They have recorded a remix of ‘Tiny Dancer’ as a full duet — and it is incredible. They’ve already played it for people at their record label, and everybody is freaking out. It is so good. They are saying this is going to be the song of the summer.”
‘Hold Me Closer’ would be the first music Spears has released since her 2016 critically lauded album Glory as well as her first time releasing music after her 14-year conservatorship was terminated in November 2021.
The Attitude September/October issue is out now.
