Steps star Ian ‘H’ Watkins has officially confirmed he will be part of a same-sex dance couple on Dancing on Ice.
For months, there has been speculation that the hit ITV dancing competition will be making history by having a same-sex dance couple and it was rumoured the Steps star and Matt Evers will be paired together.
Although it was more or less confirmed by new judge, John Barrowman, it’s now been confirmed by the Steps singer who took to Twitter to reveal the news.
Posting a photo with his dance partner, Ian wrote: “IT’S OFFICIAL! Matt & I will be the first same sex ice partnership !
“It’s been an emotional day talking about something that is so personal and means so much to us and to so many people.
“It’s about time! #DancingOnIce #DOI2020 #samesexiceskating #lgbt #lgbtq🌈 👬⛸”

The pairing comes after Strictly Come Dancing has failed to introduce same-sex dance partners despite judges, dancers and contestants calling for the show to make history.
Barrowman – who is replacing Jason Gardiner as judge on this new series – recently called for LGBTQ to support the two dancers – as long as they are good.
