Steve Martin has denied reports that there is a third Father of the Bride film in the works.

It was reported on Monday (June 16) that Disney and Warner Bros are planning a new instalment of the series, with the focus being on a gay wedding.

According to NikkiFinke.com, the new film would follow the gay wedding of son Matty, who was initially played by Kieran Culkin.

The site also reported that Martin would return as businessman George Banks, alongside Diane Keaton, who played his wife Nina.

However, Martin has since tweeted tweeted: “So excited to read I’m doing Father of the Bride 3 since I haven’t seen a script or been offered the role!”

In the rumoured film, Keaton’s Nina kicks her husband out after he is left “thunderstruck and speechless” by the news of his son’s gay wedding.
