By Will Stroude

Moonlight

, the coming-of-age tale that documents the life of a young, black gay kid growing up in an down-and-out part of Miami, has became the breakout hit of this year’s film festival circuit, and has gone on to become one of the most critically acclaimed films of the year.

With multiple award nominations, including five Golden Globes, the stunning film has been hailed as one of the most important films of the decade – and it finally has a UK release date.

A brand new trailer was released to coincide with the announcement, which gives audiences a glimpse of main character Chiron (played by Alex Hibbert, Ashton Sanders and Trevante Rhodes) as he deals with isolation, bullying, romance and, finally, adulthood.

Executive produced by Brad Pitt, the film is based on the play In Moonlight Black Boys Look Blue, by Tarell Alvin McCraney, and co-stars Skyfall’s Naomie Harris, Mahershala Ali (House of Cards) and US singer Janelle Monáe.

Believe us when we say this is a film not to be missed when it hits cinemas on February 17, 2017.
