Taron Egerton has teamed up with Sir Elton John for a brand new song called ‘(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again’.
The actor will be seen as the iconic British singer in the upcoming Rocketman movie – which is set to be released in the UK on May 22 – and although the film features many of Elton’s well-known classics, the two stars have surprised fans with a brand new song.
The song is taken from the anticipated album ‘Rocketman: Music From The Motion Picture’ – which will be released on May 24 – and will play over the movie’s closing credits.
Listen to the song below:
Rocketman follows the singer’s life, from his years as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music through his influential and enduring musical partnership with Bernie Taupin.
And Taron tells Attitude’s June issue – which is available to buy and download now – that all the singing in the film was him after Elton told him not to ‘impersonate’ him.
He says: “I do all the singing, that is something I can claim,” he says. “I would love to lie about the piano but at some point someone will put a piano in front of me and I will look like an idiot.
“But the singing, I do everything.
“It’s not an impersonation, it’s my take on him, and in some respects I have some anxieties that people might not accept the performance because I do all the singing, they haven’t used Elton’s vocals.
“Of course, I have tried in some ways to emulate him but a lot of it sounds like me.
“I hope that is exciting and interesting for people, and they aren’t left wishing they could hear Elton!”
