Taylor Swift beats Michael Jackson’s record of the most ever American Music Awards trophies

Taylor Swift took home six American Music Awards – breaking the record held by Michael Jackson.

The ‘You Need To Calm Down’ singer was handed countless awards during the prestigious music ceremony including artist of the year, favourite female artist (pop/rock), favourite album and favourite music video.

Addressing her fans, Swift continued: “This is an award that celebrates a decade of hard work and of art and of fun and memories, all that matters to me is the memories that I’ve had with you guys, with you the fans, over the years.

“We’ve had fun, incredible, exhilarating, extraordinary times together and may it continue.”

Now, the singer has 29 AMA trophies meaning she has beaten the record held by Michael Jackson, who was awarded 24.

Other winners of the night include Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus for Old Town Road – which took home favourite song (rap/hip-hop) and Bohemian Rhapsody took home favourite soundtrack.

Bisexual star Halsey won favourite song (pop/rock) for ‘Without Me’.

Shania Twain ended the night by performing a medley of her greatest hits, including ‘Still The One’, ‘That Don’t Impress Me Much’, and ‘Man! I Feel Like a Woman’.
