‘The Flash’s Andy Mientus: ‘Playing gay villain is thrilling’

Andy Mientus has admitted that he is feeling the “pressure” ahead of his debut in The Flash.

The actor – who in real life is engaged to Anger Management star Michael Arden – will be appear on the new CW series as gay super-villain Pied Piper in January.

On his new role, he told Variety: “I feel like I’m representing a whole community. People are excited to see this character, so it is a lot of pressure.

“But I’m glad they are introducing the character to the show. It’s a huge step forward, and I’m thrilled to help make that happen. It’s awesome.”

The 28-year-old added that he hopes he has managed to impress the show’s “intense, passionate fanbase” with his take on the “badass” character.

Mientus is also known for his appearances on Smash, Chasing Life and Anger Management.
