The Great British Bake Off‘s long history of innuendo entered a daring (and super gay) new chapter this week – and it’s all thanks to its Twitter account.
Yes, during a week of ever-horrific news, the show’s socials brought joy with a series of not-even-thinly-veiled jokes about topping and bottoming.
And, crucially, the account also gave versatility the representation it deserves!
“Versatility is everything”
Sharing a screengrab of a Bake Off: The Professionals baker surveying some baked goods and asking “Is the top straight?”, a Twitter maestro said in a caption: “Unlikely.”
When one shocked follower responded: “Can’t believe this is the real GBBO account i-“, the writer replied: “There’s an innuendo in this tweet? We’ll have to get to the bottom of this.”

Another follower said in response to the “unlikely” tweet: “whoever runs your socials deserves a raise for this one.”
To this, the account replied: “Why thank you! Yes, all the socials. Versatility is everything.”
Bake Off series 12 is expected to return later this year. Bake Off: The Professionals airs Tuesdays, 8pm on Channel 4.
